Typika

"What is this?" 

Typika is the Orthodox Church "readers' service" for those times when there is no priest available.  There is an opening, several Psalms read as prayers that change with the season, a reading from an Epistle and the Gospel, then a few other group prayers like the Lord's Prayer and we recite the Creed together, then prayers of whichever Saint or Feast Day it is, a homily reading, etc. Hope to see you there!

If you are able to go to Divine Liturgy or Matins or Vespers at a physical Orthodox Church, do that.  This service is not an excuse to skip services in person, and God forbid that someone goes without partaking in the Holy Mystery on my account.

The total length of the service is almost always less than one hour. 

If you show up late, this proves the devil has tried and failed to prevent you from showing up at all.  If you are self-conscious about doing scripted prayers together, don't worry! Just sign on and join us - there are people who participate muted.
